When it comes to music, Will.i.am will not be contained to his home planet. Will's new single "Reach for the Stars" will literally be out of this world now that he and NASA have teamed up to make the song the first piece of pop to come directly from Mars.
Via the Curiosity rover that recently landed on the Red Planet, the aptly titled "Reach for the Stars" will be transmitted this Tuesday to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, as part of an educational event designed to excite kids about space and the new findings on Mars, as well as bring attention to Will.i.am's education foundation, I.Am.Angel.
The BEP frontman will be on hand to witness the historic moment in space music history, and he couldn't be more excited. "My song is finally going to be beamed back to each from MARS," he tweeted as if this was something that had been on his bucket list for decades. NASA is pumped about the partnership too, calling "Reach for the Stars" a "composition about the singer's passion for science, technology, space exploration, [and lovely lady lumps]." (Okay, so we added that last part... doesn't mean it won't turn out to be true, right?.)
While Bruno Mars is totally bummed he didn't think of this publicity move first, these guys are certainly stoked. (For further details on how to hear the intergalactic premiere, go here.)
