After almost two months of is-she or isn’t-she speculation, Sofia Vergara is finally speaking out about her engagement.
In an interview with Celebuzz, the 40-year-old star of Modern Family revealed she hasn’t yet begun planning her wedding to businessman Nick Loeb, 36.
"I haven't started planning anything because everything has been very recent," she said. "I just planned a very big birthday — my 40th birthday in Mexico. More than 100 people came and celebrated with me and my family, closest friends and co-workers from Modern Family.
"I am kind of, you know, working a lot — I just started the Modern Family season — so I don't know yet [when I will get married]. No plans."
It was during the July birthday trip that Loeb proposed to the Emmy-nominated actress as they visited the Mayan ruins in Chichen Itza. The moment was caught on camera in a video posted on Vergara's 20-year-old son's mockumentary YouTube series Mi Vida Con Toty.
Gushing about the engaement and birthday celebration, Vergara said, "It was amazing."
Loeb, an entrepreneur with political aspirations — his father, Ambassador John Loeb, Jr., served President Ronald Reagan as Ambassador to Denmark — rekindled his romance with the actress at the beginning of June after a brief split.
Things are seemingly going so strong, Vergara revealed to Celebuzz that she hasn't ruled out having another baby — just like her Modern Family character Gloria.
"It's something that maybe … one day I'll do again. I wouldn't mind," she said on Tuesday during a promotional appearance for Diet Pepsi. The actress recently partnered with the soft drink empire for a new competition that strives to help women add fun into their lives.
"I mean, I think I can still do it. But you know, when you want to do something like that, you want to do it right, at the right moment, so I am taking it easy, so maybe when I have a little less work."
Donning the prosthetic bump for the hit show certainly bought back memories for Vergara.
"Well, I saw myself pregnant 21 years ago when I had my son Manolo [from her first marriage to Joe Gonzalez], so it was like a flashback to see myself pregnant again," she said.
"It is very uncomfortable to have the prosthetic on, so it is like a real pregnancy — you can’t sit or bend down. But it has been a lot of fun to dress Gloria still in her sexy ways and playing around the belly."
While Vergara has yet to start planning her wedding, she is already jumping into preparations for next month's Emmy awards.
"I am already planning what I am going to wear. I always enjoy this part of the process.
"I want to always be spectacular and wear something that I think is spectacular and beautiful, something that I would not wear anywhere else but at such a special event like the Emmys."
Unlike many actresses, Vergara says she doesn't go on an extreme diet before the event — she wants to keep her trademark curves.
"Two weeks before, you try to start eating healthy and you do a little bit more cardio, but nothing crazy because you don't want to not fit or be too skinny for the dress," she dished.
Looking great, and enjoying herself, is an essential part of Vergara's life — and that’s why she partnered with Diet Pepsi for the fun-boosting campaign.
"I think it is easier than people think [to add more fun], I don't think people can be having fun 24 hours a day, all year round, but you have to create your own fun moments.
"I mean, treat yourself to things you enjoy, and only by doing that you are making your life more whole, more fun."
And Pepsi is helping add some fun too, she reveals.
