The 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards are tonight, and all of TV's hottest stars will be in attendance. So what can you expect from the small screen's biggest night? Check out our list of 10 things you need to know about tonight's Emmys!

1. Mad Men could make history

If the AMC series wins tonight it will become the first drama ever to win five times in a row. Though star Jon Hamm has been nominated all five years, he has yet to take home an Emmy of his own for Outstanding Lead Actor.

2. Claire Danes is gonna win

No seriously, Danes winning for her stunning work on Homeland is pretty much a lock. Fun fact: Danes was also nominated 17 years ago in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama category for My So-Called Life.

3. Downton Abbey is playing in the big leagues this year

Downton Abbey dominated the Oustanding Miniseries or Movie category last year, but now its competing in the Drama categories, which are for more competitive. Will the period drama be able to snatch a few wins away from Emmy favorites Breaking Bad and Mad Men?

4. Modern Family has some potential first-timers

Modern Family is the most nominated comedy with 14 nods, and a few of its stars could win for the first time tonight. Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sofia Vergara, and Ed O’Neill have all been nominated before but have never won.

5. Louis C.K. could be an Emmy standout

The comedian is the most nominated individual at this year's Emmy Awards with seven nods for his FX comedy Louie, as well as his special, Louis C.K. Live at the Beacon Theatre. If he wins all seven Emmys (admittedly unlikely) he'll set a new Emmy record for the most awards won by an individual in a single year.

6. Jimmy Kimmel is the host with the most

Kimmel has something special planning for tonight's Emmy telecast: A good old-fashioned prank. He told CNN that he plans to "pull a prank on the world. If water coolers still exist, it will be water cooler talk afterward."

7. American Horror Story is a miniseries…at least for tonight

The spooky FX drama is nominated for 17 Emmys in the Outstanding Miniseries or Movie categories. But wait, you may be thinking, isn't AHS actually a TV series? Well, since the second season of the show will feature completely different characters and take place in a brand new setting, the show technically qualified as a miniseries.

8. American Idol won't win

The long-running singing competition was left out of the Outstanding Reality Competition category for the first time in 2012, despite its ratings dominance. Instead, So You Think You Can Dance, The Voice, The Amazing Race, Dancing With the Stars, Top Chef, or Project Runway will walk away with the Emmy. Ryan Seacrest could still win, though, for Outstanding Reality Host.

9. The fashion will be fabulous

TV's biggest stars pull out all the stops on Emmy night, so we're definitely in for some stunning sartorial moments. Need proof? Check out some of the best Emmy dresses of the 10 years.

10. Winning isn't everything

Don't worry nominees, if you don't walk away with the big win tonight you'll be in very good company. Steve Carell, Jason Alexander, Andy Griffith, and Angela Lansbury never won Emmys, despite being nominated many times.
